In a blink of an eye…

5I stepped onto the beach a few days ago.  I was going for a walk.  While it was cool, the sky was blue, the sun was out and the water looked amazing.  I have a normal walking route and know my landmarks well.  Out of nowhere, in what seemed like a blink of an eye, I was surrounded by fog.  I’d had this happen to me once before * but now, I had my camera – yes. Soul Shine vs. S.A.D.

sunshine

I’ve known about Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) for over a decade now.  Each winter, for a few weeks, I’d notice a melancholy feeling.  My summer tan was long gone and my surrounding often looked gray without the burst of fall or spring colors.  I just wasn’t as happy or peppy.  Was I addicted to the sun? I’m a mom and a girl-scout by heart.  My Mickey tin of Band-Aids has been with me for years.  I don’t think I’ll ever outgrow it.  I’ve often said, I have a Band-Aid for that.  I went to re-stock it the other day and thought of how many types of Band-Aids this tin has carried.  From small to large plain ones, to camo, to hot pink (just because they made them).  I chuckled as I opened this Band-Aid.  Yes, this expression looks familiar.  Life is often unexpected.  Oh my, how did this happen?  And… why?  Continue reading

The Power of Pondering

ponder

I never used the word, ponder until a few years ago.  I mean, I was living such a fast paced life, I never had time to.  I was too busy reacting to life.  Now though, I love this word.  I also think of sophisticated images like Aristotle, Plato and Einstein.  They must have pondered. Don’t Stop Believing!

Yes, just like the 1981 Journey song, I awoke with this in my head this morning.  The lyrics kept playing… hold on to that feeling!  I thought of my life and my current set of circumstances.  I did have much to be grateful for.  I also had some dreams and maybe I was struggling to see, how?  How was this going to unfold?  I am so human.  I have to catch myself when I start to worry on the, who, what, when, were and how.  Honestly, more often than not, my part is just to, believe!  So simple, it’s hard to do.
